Flow velocity determines the plan.

Cleansol calculates the flow required for each pipe size, deploys portable non-invasive flowmeters at multiple locations, reads actual velocity live and records the results branch by branch.

Why It Matters

A pump rating is not a velocity

A flush only works when the water moves fast enough to carry debris out of the system. Because the flow needed changes with pipe diameter, Cleansol reviews the system configuration, calculates the required flow by section and selects the temporary pumping, filtration and sequence around those targets.

A pump rating or one fixed reading does not establish velocity in every diameter, branch, low point and dead leg. Insufficient velocity lets solids settle exactly where they are hardest to find later.

At a constant flow rate, velocity drops as diameter grows. Targets are calculated section by section from the project documents.

Review the system

Configuration, diameters, materials, branches, low points and dead legs, from the project drawings.

Calculate section targets

Required flow for the specified scouring condition in each section, by pipe size.

Select temporary equipment

Pumping, filtration, connections and valve positions chosen to reach the targets.

Establish the flush sequence

Branch order, isolation plan and the measurement points for each stage.

Field Sequence

Meters move with the flush. The pipe is never cut.

During execution, Cleansol deploys portable, non-invasive flowmeters at multiple points across different pipe sizes. The instruments provide live readings without cutting into the piping and can be repositioned from branch to branch as the flush advances. The resulting velocity record provides project-specific evidence for closeout.

One meter holds the main as a reference while a second repositions through the branch sequence. Both read live, at different pipe sizes, at the same time.

What a Reading Changes

Measurement is only useful if it moves the plan

Live readings inform adjustments to pumping, valving, routing and the flushing sequence while the crew is still on the system. A low branch reading is not a note for the report. It is a change order to the flush, executed the same day and rechecked before the sequence moves on.

Measured low velocity, revised execution, verified recheck

Live readings showed two 4 inch branches below the calculated target while the mains were passing. The crew revised valve positions and staged the temporary pumping to isolate the low branches. Rechecks met target the same shift, and the closeout log records the initial reading, the adjustment and the passing recheck.

Targets and Acceptance

Flow targets, chemistry and acceptance criteria must follow the project specification, system design, metallurgy, equipment limitations and the water-treatment specialist's approved plan. No single universal velocity applies to every system.

Instruments

Instrument application depends on pipe material, diameter, fluid and installation conditions, confirmed during planning. Validated range, calibration practice and accuracy language are provided with the project record.
